Dining Out for a Cure
Judy Cherry was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. When she was diagnosed she figured she only had 2 years to live and decided she wanted to make a difference in those two years. On the anniversary of her fifth year of survival she realized she had done nothing to make a difference and committed to walk in the 2-Day Marathon Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. In 2006 she decided to walk in all 8 Avon Breast Cancer Walk Events, challenging herself to raise close to $15,000. To achieve that goal, she developed the idea of Dining Out for a Cure. It was a huge success and now dreams of having Avon walkers participating in Dining Out for a Cure events all across the nation. To learn more contact jcherry1@diningoutforacure.com

Marylou Cartobino was enlisted to help procure the cooperation of restaurants in the New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania area because she has had extensive experience in the food and beverage area as well as substantial experience raising funds for a leading hospital in New Jersey and other charity organizations. mcartobino@diningoutforacure.com

This partnership has led to a new and exciting cooperation between fundraising individuals and corporate entities.

This is also about awareness. In just 8 short years, the walking community, Avon Foundation and thousands of men and women have raised the awareness of the public as to how important it is to be screened for this deadly disease. The 5 year survival rate has gone from 75% to 95%. Unfortunately, every 3 minutes someone, men and women, is diagnosed with the disease, and thousands still die.

It is reaching epidemic proportions and robbing families of mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers
and even the men in the families.

So, come, BE A HERO! Dine at one of our caring and fabulous restaurants! You can make a difference.
